The primary duties of the GIS/Drafting Technician require familiarity with a wide range of construction documentation, methods and processes.
Must possess the skills needed to prepare detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using civil, survey and computer aided drafting programs (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
Interpret field notes and sketches.
Must be familiar with different formats of GIS data conversion and interpretation.
Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses. Qualifications
Must be able to work independently with minor supervision and interact with internal and external project managers during field projects.
Minimum High School Diploma with 2 years Drafting or GIS
Preferred AA/AS with concentration in Geography, Geology, or Drafting or BS/BA degree in Geography, Engineering, or related field.
Experience with ESRI ArcMap, Google Earth Pro, and AutoCAD
Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
Proven problem solving and documentation abilities.
Knowledge of computers and/or computer tablets preferable.
