GIS/Drafting Technician 

The primary duties of the GIS/Drafting Technician require familiarity with a wide range of construction documentation, methods and processes.

  • Must possess the skills needed to prepare detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using civil, survey and computer aided drafting programs (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D). 

  • Interpret field notes and sketches.

  • Must be familiar with different formats of GIS data conversion and interpretation.

  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses. Qualifications

  • Must be able to work independently with minor supervision and interact with internal and external project managers during field projects.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma with 2 years Drafting or GIS

  • Preferred AA/AS with concentration in Geography, Geology, or Drafting or BS/BA degree in Geography, Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience with ESRI ArcMap, Google Earth Pro, and AutoCAD

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).

  • Proven problem solving and documentation abilities.

  • Knowledge of computers and/or computer tablets preferable.
